ABOUT THE COMPETITION:

  • This year's format will be 4 person teams (2 males/2 females). Same as the NEW CF Regional/Games team format
  • There will be only 2 divisions, RX and Scaled. For information on the divisions, see below
  • We will cap each division to 20 teams. Once the divisions fill up, we will start a wait list.
  • WODs will be posted a couple weeks before the competition
  • Cash prizes available for RX division
DIVISION DETAILS

RX DIVISION:
The RX division for the 2018 TEAM Battle of the Barbells will be the same level of competition as last year. Teams will be tested on movements and WODs similar to Regionals, however weights will be moderate and gymnastics movements will be similar to the past years of our competitions.

SCALED DIVISION:
Teams competing in the Scaled Division for the 2018 TEAM Battle of the Barbells can expect the same level of competition as the past two years. Weights will be light to moderate and most gymnastics movements will be scalable. This division is also perfect for first time competitors.

ALTHOUGH SOME OF THESE MOVEMENTS MAY NOT BE USED IN THE COMPETITION, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WEIGHTS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS THE MINIMUM WEIGHT IN A WORKOUT.

*Ability to perform movements that have been in the CrossFit Games Open scaled division. Additional scaling of the pull-ups will place that athlete lower than athletes who do not scale.

WAIT LIST RULES

A wait list goes into effect immediately after a division is sold out. In order to be on the wait list, you must select the proper wait list division as well as pay the registration fee in full. The athlete/team at the top of the wait list will immediately be placed in their respective division once a spot opens up (assuming their registration fee has been paid).

The wait list will remain active up to the morning of competition day 1. If an athlete who is on the wait list does not get a chance to compete, then their registration fee will be refunded on Saturday June 2nd 2018.

REFUND POLICY

Due to upfront costs in running our competitions, please note that our competitions have a NO REFUND POLICY.

Refunds will be given if an individual or team cannot compete and there is an individual or team on the wait list.

In the event there is no one on the wait list, the individual or team will be able to sell their spot to someone else. If that happens, the new individual or team must contact us to get registered. If you have any questions, please email chris@battleofthebarbells.com

Time Cap: 17:00

RX

As Male/Female/Male/Female relay:
20 overhead squats (135/95)
100 double-unders*
*Advance at 50 DUs

Then, as a relay (any order):
25’ Handstand walk in 5’ increments

The tie-break time for this event is the time at the completion of the double-unders for the second female athlete.


RX
This event begins with the 1st male athlete behind the starting line. At 3-2-1 GO, the athlete will run to their barbell and perform 20 Overhead Squats.

Upon completion of the OHSs, the athlete will proceed to his rope and perform 50 Double Unders, advance to the next area and perform 50 more Double Unders. The athlete will then run to the start line and tag the 1st female athlete. The female athlete will complete 20 OHS and 100 DUs and then tag the 2nd male athlete. The 2nd male athlete completes their portion and then tags the 2nd female athlete.

NOTE: The athletes will be responsible for moving their barbells as well as their teammate's barbells.

Once all athletes have completed their OHS and DUs, they will begin the Handstand Walk relay. Each athlete will handstand walk the 25 foot distance that will be completed in 5 foot increments. Athletes can go in any order the team decides.

Complete 6 rounds (alternating) for time of:
4/3 synchro bar muscle-ups
8/6 synchro hang power snatches, 115/75 lb.

All exercises in this event must be synchronized. The bar muscle-ups must be locked out at the top of the bar at the same time. The snatches must have the barbell locked out overhead at the same time.


At 3, 2, 1 go... The two male athletes will complete the 1st round of synchro bar muscle-ups and synchro hang power snatches. Once they complete that round, they will tag in the two female athletes for them to do their round. They will continue to alternate until the team completes 6 rounds. (Males will do 3 rounds, Females will do 3 rounds)

NOTE: This event is two scores, the first score is the time it takes pair 1 to complete their 3 rounds. The second score is the total time it takes for the team to complete the event.

At the bottom of the goblet squat, each athlete’s hip crease must pass below the top of their knees at the same time. There will be four stations for the HSPU. A handstand hold station, a HSPU station, and 2 resting stations. The movement begins with both athletes at the top of a handstand. One athlete will begin performing repetitions of the HSPU. The non-working athlete must remain in the top position for the duration of the reps. As needed, the athletes will rotate clockwise through the stations in their respective order. Team members may rotate as many times as they choose but must remain in the same order until HSPU reps are complete. All athletes must complete at least 1 HSPU per round.

All exercises in this event must be synchronized. The snatches must have the barbell locked out overhead at the same time. The athlete’s chest and thighs must touch the ground at the same time on the burpees.


At 3, 2, 1 go... The two male athletes will complete the 1st round of synchro hang power snatches and synchro burpees over the bar. Once they complete that round, they will tag in the two female athletes for them to do their round. They will continue to alternate until the team completes 6 rounds. At the bottom of the goblet squat, each athlete’s hip crease must pass below the top of their knees at the same time. There will be 2 bars for the shoulder to overhead, a men’s bar and a women’s bar and 2 resting stations. One athlete will begin performing repetitions of the shoulder to overhead, while the non-working athlete holds their barbell locked out overhead. Once they are done with their set, the working athlete will hold the barbell locked out overhead while the next team member then completes their repetitions. Athletes will continue to work in this order until all repetitions are complete. Team members may rotate as many times as they choose but must remain in the same order and all team members must complete 1 repetition per round.
