The Elite division for the 2018 Battle of the Barbells is designed with the Region’s top athletes in mind. Athletes can expect to be tested by a variety of high skill and high load movements across broad time and modal domains. In order to be considered for this division, athletes should meet the following criteria :
– Male – Top 500 in the 2018 CrossFit Games Open (in your region)
– Females – Top 300 in the 2018 CrossFit Games Open (in your region)
– Athletes that have competed individually or on a team at the CrossFit Regionals or CrossFit Games in the last 2 years
Didn’t do the open this year? Or fall outside of the qualification but think you have what it takes to compete at this level? Email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us why we should consider you for our Elite division, please include relevant competition experience. Athletes who meet the criteria, decided by our staff, will be invited to compete in this division.
The RX division for the 2018 Battle of the Barbells will be the same level of competition as in previous years. Athletes will be tested on movements and WODs similar to Regionals, however weights will be moderate and gymnastics movements will be similar to the past four years of our competition.
Athletes competing in the Scaled Division for the 2018 Battle of the Barbells can expect the same level of competition as the past two years. Weights will be light to moderate and most gymnastics movements will be scalable. This division will include DOUBLE UNDERS but is still perfect for first time competitors.
ALTHOUGH SOME OF THESE MOVEMENTS MAY NOT BE USED IN THE COMPETITION, PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE WEIGHTS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS WORKING WEIGHT IN A WORKOUT.
Any movement/load/gymnastics that has been tested at the Regional level, be prepared for ANYTHING.

*Ability to perform movements that have been in the CrossFit Games Open scaled division, however we WILL have Double Unders in the scaled division. Additional scaling of the pull-ups or double unders may be performed but will place that athlete lower than athletes who do not scale.

A wait list goes into effect immediately after a division is sold out. In order to be on the wait list, you must select the proper wait list division as well as pay the registration fee in full. The athlete/team at the top of the wait list will immediately be placed in their respective division once a spot opens up (assuming their registration fee has been paid).
The wait list will remain active up to the morning of competition day. If an athlete who is on the wait list does not get a chance to compete, then their registration fee will be refunded on Saturday November 3rd 2018.

Refunds will be given if an individual or team cannot compete and there is an individual or team on the wait list.

Wall Ball - In the wall-ball shot, the medicine ball must be taken from the bottom of a squat, hip crease below the knee, and thrown to hit the specified target. The center of the ball must hit the target at or above the specified target height.If the ball hits low or does not hit the target, it is a “no rep.” If the ball drops to the ground from the top, it cannot be caught off the bounce to begin the nextrep. The ball must settle on the ground before being picked up for the next rep.
Power Snatch - The barbell begins on the ground and must be lifted overhead in one smooth motion. The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the middle of the body.
Both lifts will come from the rack. Only the athlete may raise the bar back to the rack if it is dropped. Only the athlete may load and unload their bar. The athlete has a maximum of 3 attempts inside the 4 min window. If the athlete has any time left in the first 4 min window, they may NOT start loading or squatting the bar.
Shoulder to Overhead - The bar must start in the front rack position, a shoulder press, push press, push jerk or split jerk may be used to get the weight overhead. The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the middle of the body.
Front Squat - The rep begins at the top, with knees and hips extended and the barbell in the front rack position. At the bottom of the squat, the hip crease must pass below the knees. At the top, the hips and knees must be fully extended.
